I’m a junior at Stuyvesant High School, serving as Co-President of The Ethics Forum, which hosts many opportunities for anyone in our community to gain and develop an interest in ethics and philosophy. After getting involved during my freshman year, I’ve not only formed a bond with my teammates through competing at the High School Ethics Bowl competition each year, but have also fostered an ever-growing nuanced understanding of various social, political, cultural, and environmental issues. I believe that raw and respectful conversations are the key to building bridges between vastly differing worldviews in any sphere of concern, and the way philosophy welcomes and challenges the fundamental beliefs of any individual who walks through its doors makes it incredibly relevant today. I encourage any tentative folks to take the dive too, to find that philosophy can be very fulfilling and practical!
